Confluence is defined as, flowing together or a place where things merge. This word beautifully describes the coming together of the divergent artistic practices of Adele Woolsey and Mary-Leigh Doyle.
Adele has an intrinsic love for processes and discovery. By emulating depth and textures found in geological formations, she creates compelling abstracts referencing our natural environment. Adele has been known to use, objects, sand, and sawdust along with typical painting mediums. This mix of experimentation and the use of unconventional materials results in mixed media paintings with highly textured surfaces that are extremely tactile and convey powerful physical presence.
Mary-Leigh has a knack for highlighting her subject matter through depth and hue choices. Whether it’s a sideways glance, the casting of a shadow, transparency of coloured glass or a portrait of a local personality. Mary-Leigh has a fascination for capturing scenes from everyday life while creating emphasis on the unexpected with colour and texture.
Adele Woolsey – Sunday, September 17th from 1pm-3pm
